Why?
As a Church Elders of an independent Church in New South Wales you need independent, impartial and accurate information to ensure you comply with your Governance requirements.
Whilst denominations provide some advice and assistance, their primary focus is never you. The enormous responsibility to ensure that your Church is compliant ultimately rests solely on your shoulders.
I bridge the Information Gap.
I provide independent guidance that helps point you towards accurate resources to help ensure your Church complies with ACNC, Child Protection, WHS, safety, risk, insurance and the multitude of all other Statutory requirements you must fulfill.
My ministry exists solely for you to give you the confidence that your church is correctly governed.

Elders personally face potentially significant monetary loss, fines or even imprisonment if your church fails to satisfy your numerous obligations.
The burden and risk you carry as an Elders is huge.

The summary you need.
Evolving over a number of years and driven from my experiences, I have written my summary of what the Governance Requirements for Independent Churches in NSW currently are.
I provide practical self assessments for you to see areas of compliance, and what you need to do to bridge areas of need.
Why only Church Elders?
I focus on helping Church Elders.
I do not work primarily with denominational leaders or individual Church pastors.
As separate entities they do not carry the legal responsibility that you personally as an Elder carry.
Qualifications to Guide?
My name is Simeon Payne, and I have over 35 years’ experience on Church councils, elderships, diaconates and boards across three denominations. I now focus on encouragement, mentoring and advice to fellow Elders specialising in governance issues.
I have qualifications in theology, social welfare, child protection, accountancy and management.
By day I work in legislation and policy compliance for organisations that work with children and families at risk. I currently work for one of Australia’s largest not-for-profit organisations in quality assurance, procedural development and external professional accreditation.
